How we collect information

Collecting more than 130 years of Dharmaraja's history and maintaining it for posterity is an enormous task. Therefore Dharmaraja College Archives have started this website (as a private wiki) such that all can collaboratively complete the College history. The data collection will be done by forming a hierarchy of Rajans who are conversant about a certain part of the college history. These responsibilities are given to interested Rajans. Anyone can volunteer. They will be a part of the archives' data collection team and will be responsible for collecting and maintaining accurate information about each part of the history. The data collection parts are divided into sub-parts and years.

If you are interested, please volunteer and contact the President of the Dharmaraja College Archives.

The name/s of the authorised editors are displayed at the bottom of the page.

It is expected to have Profile Pages for everyone connected to the College. Please complete your Profile Page so that Rajans community get to know about you.

Authenticity of information is ensured.

  • Access to pages is granted only for registered users.
  • Users can see who has edited the pages, and the Archives also moderates the edits.
  • It is expected that you edit this site as a "True Rajan" who does not damage anyone's character or include private information that harms others.
  • Please ensure that you enter correct information only and refrain from entering any information that could harm anyone.
  • Some of the pages are generated by a database and hence you cannot edit them. You can edit all other pages.
  • The pages of this website use symbols (Markup) to format. Use the above buttons to do simple formatting. Advanced formatting can be easily learned from Editing Guide.
  • If you are unable to format, just type the text. We will format it.
  • If you can't edit on the website, we can create a Google document for you to edit or you can send a Word document in any language. We will publish it for you.

Editing Guidelines.

  • Add only correct information and give references as much as possible.
  • Attach the reference to your page if it is a document.
  • If the reference is another website, it would be better to copy the entire website as it would be removed after some time from the original location.
  • Add links to other pages as much as possible.

Procedure of editing information

  • Anyone can see the information on this site without logging in.
  • All Rajans are encouraged to register on the site and create their profile page.
  • First Rajans should find their suggested UserName from the student list grouped in the order of the year of admission.
  • Then register using the suggested UserName by using the Create User option on the right-hand top.
  • To register, relevant information should be submitted, and an automatic email verification link will be sent to ascertain the validity of the new user's email
  • When the email link is pressed, the new user's account will be activated, and the user will be log in to this website.
  • Some of the information in the database is automatically displayed on this website. Such information can not be edited.
  • The users can add/edit their profile pages.
  • If the users can contribute to provide information to the pages other than thier Own Profile Pages please inform the President of Archives so that permission will be granted.
  • If the editor requires adding a link to any other website, it is recommended to make a copy of that website as a page in this website, because other websites may become defunct someday.

How to collect information

  • Collecting data is done in three ways. The involved groups of Rajans are Old Boys and Past Teachers, Present Students and Teachers and the Archives Committee.
  • A hierarchy of responsibilities is established so that every aspect of the history is covered.
  • Old Boys and Past Teachers collect data from the past, and Present Students and Teachers collect the data from the years they are in the school.
  • The Archives Committee will monitor the progress and find missing data to guide the other two groups to fill the gaps.
  • The Archives Sub Committee of the OBU coordinate with the Old Boy Groups and Past Teachers.
  • The Archives Student Society of the College coordinates with the present teams, students and teachers.
  • At the bottom of each page, the names of the editors who have permission to edit are shown.
