History of the Crest
Sunflower and Bee (Early days)
The college crest was the Sunflower and the Bee from the early days of the school.
Standing Lion and the Dagaba (After 1933-1937)
In 1933 The College Union was started with the aim of managing the college activities. The college crest in the present form with lion and dagaba was designed by the College Union Council between the period of 1933 - 1937 (no reference to exact year or date is found). The crest was designed by Mr. D.B.Ranaraja an Old Boy of the College (at the time he was the Secretary of the council).

Redrawn by including artistic features in 1952
Mt T.B Karunarathna who was a teacher of the college and later became the Director of Arts, of the Education Department has redrawn the crest in 1952. Ref: Documentations of standardization of the crest and the flag in 2000. Donated to the Archives by Mr J.B.Herath
Standardization 2000
The college crest and the flag is standardized in 2000 by a group of eminent old boys under the presidentship of Mr. Gamini Gunawardhene and officially accepted by the OBU and the college.
